I am seeking representation for my debut novel, THE VOICES OF VARISYN, a romantic high fantasy complete at 103k words that asks how much sacrifice is necessary to save a dying world. 

Elina Solai wants nothing more than to travel far away from the oppressive fae rulers of the United Realm—particularly the High Queen she once loved. But a deadly illness is ravaging her fellow humans in the capital city of Evaris and, as a healer’s apprentice, it’s Elina’s duty to help. After all, that’s what her mother would have done, if she hadn’t been executed for having the same outlawed magic that runs through Elina’s veins. When Elina is exposed as an elemental Vivimancer during a tragic riot, Ryker, the striking fae Captain of a notorious rebel faction, helps her flee the wrath of the High Queen under the condition she enlist for a lifetime of service in the Thornveil Alliance. 

Despite her reluctance to embrace her abilities, the rebels are determined to harness Elina’s uniquely powerful magic in their mission to destroy the nobility, whose greed is depleting the sparkling life-magic that connects all of Varisyn. To stop the decay creeping through their luminescent world, Elina must listen to the voices of Gods she thought long-dead, though their whispers hint at memories of betrayal and blood that she doesn’t want to face. As she trains to wield her magic under Ryker’s instruction, she finds herself drawn to him despite the Alliance’s strict rules forbidding their connection. But the tentative healing she finds in his presence is shattered by the revelation that the High Queen who she believed betrayed her may not truly be in control. If Elina decides to confront her own darkness and unravel the web of lies spun by the most unexpected forces, she’ll risk losing everything: her freedom, the lives of those she vowed to protect, and the two fae that hold the broken pieces of her heart. 

THE VOICES OF VARISYN is intended as the first in a series but has standalone potential. It will appeal to fans of the nature-steeped magic of THE BURNING KINGDOMS, the mental health themes of THE PLATED PRISONER, and the glowing forests of AVATAR. I’m a full-time nomad and this story evolved from my deep love and concern for the natural world. My Masters degree in Psychology informs the novel's exploration of trauma and identity.
